Buying Guide: Key Purchase Considerations
- Size and coverage: For true 6-foot length, look for 72-inch variants like 20 x 72 inches. If a longer pillow is not available, consider a 65–65.5 inch length with an adaptable fill to reach close to 72 inches.
- Fill material: Memory foam offers contouring and pressure relief, shredded foam allows adjustable loft, and polyester fiber provides a soft, hug-like feel. Choose based on firmness preference and heat tolerance.
- Firmness and adjustability: Some pillows allow you to remove or add filling. Adjustable loft helps tailor support for side sleepers, back sleepers, or pregnancy needs.
- Breathability and care: Look for breathable covers and zipped, washable covers to maintain hygiene. Vacuum-packing can affect initial softness; allow time to regain loft after unpacking.
- Allergies and safety: Hypoallergenic fillings are beneficial for sensitive sleepers. Ensure the pillow insert has skin-friendly fabric and a durable cover.
- Special uses: Pregnancy support, reading or lounging, backrest configurations, and couch use are potential fits. Consider whether you prefer a straight pillow or a curved/U-shaped design for targeted support.
- Maintenance: Removable covers simplify cleaning. For memory foam, avoid excessive washing to preserve fill integrity and shape.
- Durability and warranty: Check for durable stitching and product guarantees, especially for long-term daily use and frequent washing.
